WELCOME TO J FORCE MEN
Sir,—l read this morning that the gathering arranged by the Christchurch City Council at the Wentworth on June 25 is expected to be the last welcome home function to Christchurch servicemen and servicewomen. Is the council not going to welcome home the men of the J Force who return next month? Many of these men are veterans of both Pacific and Italian campaigns and have not yet had the opportunity of attending any of the functions arranged by the council. Surely they are entitled to a civic welcome, too? —Yours, etc., WIFE OF ONE OF THEM. June 15, 1§46. [“No decision has yet been made on the point,” said the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews), in comment on this letter. “The correspondent can rest assured that if the numbers warrant it another function will be arranged.’’]
