OBITUARY

DR. E. B. R. PRIDEAUX Dr. E. B. R. Prideaux, whdfe death occurred last month in England, where he was Emeritus Reader in Physical Chemistry of the University College of Nottingham; was a graduate of Canterbury University College. He was at College House from 1898 to 1901. Dr. Prideaux, who was born in the West Indies, was educated at Auckland before he came to Christchurch After obtaining M.A. and B.Sc. degrees he Went to London, where he studied under Sir William Ramsey at the University College. London. He was awarded the D.Sc.. (Lond.) for original research on fluorine compounds. Positions he held included demonstratorship in general cl*emistry at London, and lectureships in chemistry at Edinburgh and Liverpool, and in physics and general chemistry atr London. He was with the University at Nottingham from 1914 to 1946. Dr. Prideaux was the author of Several books on chemical subjects.
