Weight of Parcels

Restriction of the size of packages and parcels to a weight not exceeding 1401 b is to be sought by the New Zealand Transport Workers’ Federation. This basis, -reported by the secretary (Mr P. A. Hansen) after the annual conference, was already gaining recognition in many overseas countries, notably Great Britain, the United States, and Australia, he said. This uniform restriction on the weight of packages enabled them to be handled with maximum speed and efficiency and ensured that they could be dealt with by one man at a time without risk of injury or the necessity for additional help.—(P. A.)
