ASHBURTON FANCIERS’ SOCIETY
ANNUAL DOG SHOW A good entry of more than 80 dogs was received for the kennel section of the Ashburton Fanciers’ Society’s annual show on Saturday. The judge was Mr R. N. Elliott : of Picton. The award for the best dog in the show was won by J. Lightfoot’s cocker spaniel, Glendale Orange Flare, the runner-up being Mrs C. L. Ridgen's Pekingese, Champion PungKee of Montresor. The best opposite sex was Mrs H. M. Sapio's pointer, Cruchfield Calling Winners of championship challenge awards were as follows:—West Highland white terriers: W. and L. Comer; smooth fox terriers: A. B. Segar; wire fox terriers: Mrs C. A. Seymour and W. H. RamSay: Scottish terriers: Mrs G. Burton and G. Burton; Sydney Silky terriers: Mrs E. Chapman and Miss M? Barnett; Pomeranians: Mrs *B. Kroening and Mrs E. Dalgleish; Pekingese: Mrs C. L. Ridgen; cocker spaniels (black): A. I. C. McKHlop and M. B. Richards; cocker spaniels (other than black): J. Lightfoot and A. I. C. McKillop; golden retriever: R. W. Goodsell; dachshunds: W. J. Heyboum; pointer: Mrs H. M. Sapio; springer spaniels: Mrs H. M. Sapio; Labrador retrievers: Mrs N. Harvey and A. Marker; Clumber spaniels: Mrs H. M. Sapio; Alsatians: Miss L. Greig; rough-coated collies: Miss M. Kidd; bulldogs: Mrs K. C. Hart and Mrs T. V. Cooke. Lightfoot; non-sporting puppy: E. V. Brooks; non-sporting: Mrs T. V. Cooke; junior puppy: E. V. Brooks; grand puppy stakes: Mrs M. B. Richards (best puppy in show): novice owners: Mrs T. Hamilton; novice dog: J. Lightfoot; gun dog: Mrs H. M. Sapio; limit: J. Lightfoot; lady owner: Mrs C. L. Ridgen; bracer Miss L. Greig; champion of champions: Mrs C. L. Ridgen; grand challenge: J. Lightfoot 1, Mrs C. L. Ridgen 2. Mrs C. A. Seymour 3. Mrs M. G. Richards 4. The cup for best non-sporting was won by Miss L. Greig’s Alsatian.
