WORLD SHIPPING LANES
« NO FEAR OF CROWDING BY U.S.” (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 14 Mr Maitland Pennington, vice-presi-dent of the National Federation of American Shipping, told the International Labour Organisation’s maritime conference that there was no reason to fear that America would crovl the world’s shipping lanes with the 60,000,000 tons of existing shipping. He said that most forecasts envisaged the use of 15,000,000 tons of American shipping, at least half of which would be employed in the domestic trade, and a large proportion of the remainder would be used fa foreign waters.
