POSTPONEMENT OF EXAMINATIONS
POLICE BOMBARDED WITH CHERRIES
(Rec. 8 p.m.) PARIS, June 13. “A crowd of several hundred students bombarded with ripe cherries Solice who were trying to quieten >em,” says Reuter’s Paris correspondent. “The students gathered as a protest against the postponement of the matriculation examinations because the authorities suspect a leakage of question papers. The newspaper *L Etoile’ said ’black market* papers fetched as much as £62 each. “Paris was keyed to a high pitch of nervous excitement for the matriculation examinations. Thirty thousand students demonstrated hysterically outside the gates of the university when told they would have to wait another week before sitting for the examinations. The black market included the sale of false ‘resistance membership’ certificates exempting students from oral examinations.
“The Ministry of Education stated that many high functionaries ate involved. The police are investigating, and arrests are expected.”
