INTERPROVINCIAL MATCH TO-DAY KEEN GAMES EXPECTED Three members of the Wellington P ro " vincial golf team, which will meet Canterbury to-day at Russley, arrived by, air from the north yesterday. They were J. A. Ewen, W. G. Horne, and W. Thurgood. AU three practised at the Russley course in the afternoon, and onlookers were impressed by their play. The other members of the team will arrive by the steamer express this morning. The Timaru members of the Canterbury team, G. Ussher, J. D. Mackay, and E. G. Kerr, also practised at Russley yesterday. Each province has selected a strong team, and many keen games are expected. As this is the first occasion the two provinces have met, more than usual interest been aroused. The Russley course is at present in ‘excellent order, and is likely to provide .a stiff test, as it contains many pitfalls for those not used to it. The foursomes games will be started this morning at 9.30 o’clock, and the singles will be played in the afternoon. The Wellington players will be the guests of the Russley Club for luncheon and a buffet supper in the evening. Later they will return north on the steamer express. N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 14. The New Zealand golf championships will be played this year at Palmerston North between October 21 and November 21. This advice was received to-nxght from the secretary of the New Zealand Golf Association (Mr G. O. Sutton). TEMPLETON LADIES’ CLUB Results of a bogey match played recently by- the Templeton Ladies’ Golf Club were:—Mrs Rv Grimmer, 8 down; Mrs G. P. Anderson, 9 down; Mrs H. Wilson, 10 dojvh; Mrs S. Craze. 10 down.
