SAVING OF MEAT AND BUTTER

The latest figures issued by the export division of the Marketing Department show that in the three months from February 1 to April 30 of this year, meat shipments to Britain were about 9000 tons more than for the corresponding period last year. The butter position also showed an improvement, the increase for the same period being approximately 10.000 tons. An official of the Christchurch Famine Emergency Committee said’yesterday that the figures quoted seemed to answer the question whether any more food was being made available by the coupon-saving schema.
