ALLIED COUNCIL IN JAPAN
ATTITUDE OF GENERAL MACARTHUR
(Rec. 9.30 p.m.) NEW YORK. June 13. . “General MacArthur apparently has decided to abandon his standoffish attitude towards the Allied Four-Power Council,” says the Tokyo correspondent of the “New York Herald-Tri-bune.” "General MacArthur proposed seven of eight subjects on the agenda at yesterday's council meeting, and on each, the American chairman (Mr George Atcheson) pressed for a suggestion. The recommendations of the Russian, British, and Chinese members revealed a reluctance to make snap decisions, and except for one subject they asked for more time and more information. The general impression was that the council has been thoroughly emasculated.”
