MIGRATION TO N.Z.
NO SUDDEN INFLUX INFORMATION FOR ENGLISH INQUIRIES (P-A.) WELLINGTON. June 13. No large-scale immigration, involving a sudden influx of people, would be permitted by the Government, said the Hon. A. McLagan, speaking at the Federation of Labour Conference. The Government plan was that if . a certain ’ number of people were brought into the country they could be found jobs and housing and create opportunities for others. A plan was being carried out to give people in England the information they required. About 600 wouldbe immigrants were making inquiries at New Zealand House every week.
