70TH ANNUAL MEETING Members ot the Young Men’s Christian Association had been awarded a number of honours recently, said the president, Mr W. G. V. Fernie, at the seventieth annual meeting of the association last evening. Among them was the award of the 0.8. E. to the national secretary, Mr Roy Brasted, and of the M.B.E. to Mr Broughton, a former member of the Christchurch staff. Mr Broughton, he said, had worked with the New Zealand Legation in Washington during the war, and had rendered signal service. The assistant national secretary, Mr George Briggs, had recently been made a Fellow of the American .Academy of Physical Education. Mr Fernie congratulated Mr G, M. Keys on his appointment as headmaster of Scotch College, Perth. Mr Keys had played an important part in directing the youth work of the association. Messrs J. L. Hay, A. M. Hosking, P. A. Le Brun, A. H. Cavell, and W. A. Bascand were re-elected directors Mr J. L. Kerr was re-elected honorary auditor.
