SEVEN LOCOMOTIVES ORDERED

WELLINGTON, June 13. The Railways Department said to-day that the main items of the order placed with the English Electric Company, Ltd., were seven electric locomotives, 40 motor coaches, and 71 trailers for electric multiple-unit trains. All are intended primarily for service on the Hutt Valley line, but will be capable also of operating services between Wellington and Jobsonville and between Wellington and Paekakariki. It is likely to take three years to complete delivery. The English Electric Company has supplied all the electric equipment in use by the New Zealand Railways Department.
