Both the Si L ’ R-.Silcock and I. At C + k ’ Bates was excellent. He sent out quick and accurate passes, and defended stoutly. The Training College forwards overcame some of their lack of weight by good pacKing, excellent understanding, afid sheer hard work. E. C. Baas, W. R. Wilkinson, and M. T. Cunliffe were outstanding, and S. Dale did some fine work in the line-outs. R. Bond and R. Harris were two good workers in the University P ack ; and towards the end of the game A. D. McKenzie was doing fine work in the line-outs. R. Monigatti. at half-back, made several solo runs, and gave a good service, but he seemed inclined to carry on jUst a little too far on his own after making a good opening. A. D. Hunter, second five-eighths, was a sound tackler, and was quick to turn defence into attack. J. Hah, centre three-quarters, was also in good form, apd the wings, M. D. Fountain and G. A. Drummond, were both •excellent. Fountain, in particular, made some most determined runs. C. T. Wilson’s taking of the ball at full-back was almost perfect, and he showed a nice discrimination in deciding when to make an extra man in the back line. Lucre kicked a penalty for Training College soon after the game began, and T r amlng College maintained the pressure. Both sets of backs continued to play excellent football. Monigatti went through and sent a high pass out to Fountain, who scored in the corner, and just before the interval Lucre camfe up to make an extra man, and ran from his own side of halfway to score a fine try. Early In the second half two penalty goals, kicked by Wilson, put University ahead, and it was not until a few minutes before time that Lucre equalised with a good penalty goal. The pace was very fast as the game ended, at one stage play ranging up and down the field for some little time after the referee had halted the game for an infringement. The referee was Mr L. Walsh.
