THEFT OF TREASURES WORTH £40,000

LONDON, June 10. “The police are investigating the disappearance from their war-time refuge in London of £40,000 worth of art treasures,” says the “Daily Telegraph.’’ "The treasures belonged to a wellknown personage who died recently and whose name is at present being kept secret. “An appeal has been made to dealers and collectors throughout the world to help to trace the stolen articles. “The theft became known when the executors visited a store to settle the estate. It is feared that the long delay before the discovery has made die thieves hard to trace. The missing pieces include rich old carpets, gold and silver ware, and antique china.’
