THEFT OF GERMAN JEWELS
(Rec. 10.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 10. The value of the jewels belonging to the Hohenzollern House of Hesse, which were stolen from Kronberg Castle by two United States Army officers has been increased by at least 3,000,000 dollars, as the result of an investigation by an Army officer, Major J. D. Evans. He said that some of the art objects recovered at the home of a sister of the accused, the W.A.C. Captain, Kathleen B. Nash Durant, were worth between 2,500,000 and 3,000,000 dollars. Previously it was stated that this hoard was only 24 to 40 per cent, of the total loot.
