PRICE OF BOTTLED BEER
Sir,—So the wife of “Burnt Toast” gives her children a little beer, and it does them good. Well, he would find it very difficult to prove this. Surely all right-thinking parents will be saddened to read there are those so foolish as to do these things in this enlightened age. My daughter is highly trained in all branches of nursing, including Plunket work, and beer for children, or adults either, was not taught in that training. Being a social worker, much of her work consists in helping people whose chief trouble lies in the fact that they started sipping beer. She has not yet contacted anybody whose health suffered as the result of not taking beer. I advise “Burnt Toast” to beware, for “what you sow that you shall also reap.” —Yours, etc., EXAMPLE. June 10, 1946. [“Burnt Toast” may. if he wishes, briefly reply; otherwise this correspondence is closed.—Ed., “The Press.”]
