LORNEVILLE (P.A.) INVERCARGILL. June n Yardings at Lorneville to-day were rw large, although the entries in some see’ tions were better than last week. Fat Sheep.—The yarding was 720 agaW 450 last week, and consisted of c-wes snri wethers in nearly equal proportions. Fullv half the yarding was of good quality thi rest being light and unfinished. With the exception of fat cattle, of which only a small yarding of 65 head were entered, good entries came forward t in all sections at the Temyka sale. The sale all round was a good one, fat cattle showing an improvement on late rate®, and all other sections sold at last week>-!| values. There were 1100 fat lambs yarded and three full races of fat sheep. Pricee were : Fat cattle.—Best steers, £l6 to £lB 6d; others. £l4 to £l6; best cows, £io to £l2 17s 6d; medium, £8 to £9 17s 6d: light. £6 to £7 17s 6d; best heifers, £ij to £l4 7s 6d; medium, £ll to £ll n. 6d; light, £8 to £lO 17s 6d. Store cattle.—Empty cows, £3 to £5 17s 6d; 18 months steers, to £8 12s fidspringing heifers, medium £7 to £ll Fat sheep.—Best wethers. 40s to 45s Id* medium, 35s to 39s lOd; light, 30s to 34« lOd. TINWALD With a good yarding of fat sheep the Tinwald sale yesterday, there -was a 'decline of is 6d to 2s a head In most of the fat sheep sections. Stores, especially lambs, were in good supply, but the sale was slow, values being down slightly on recent rates. Butchers’ ewes ranged up to 17s for light quality, from 18s to 19s 6d for medium, and from 2Cs to 24s 4d for heavy-weight stock. Two-tooths’ reached 44s Id for an extra prime line, while others sold from 31s 7d to 34s 4<L Again wethers rose, 51s 7d being given for prime sheep, the highest price of the season so far. Lighter quality made upwards of 32s 7d to 44s lOd for the heavier grades. The entry of fat lambs was not large, the prices being from 24s lOd to 26s lOd Freezing lambs reached 28s Id. In the store pens, ewe lambs sold from IBs 9d to 26s Id. Cows sold at £3 and £8 steers from £8 2s 6d to £9 17s Bd, and a Hteifer made £6 17s 6d, t RANGIORA There were small yardings in all sections at the weekly Rangtora stock market yesterday. In the pig section, porkers made-from 52s to £3 Ils 6d. Prices for cattle were as follows:—Fat steers, £7 18s 6d; springers, £l4 10s; store calves, 15s. * MINING Austral-New Zealand.— For the 28 days ended June 8, Austral-New Zealand mining operated for 495 hours, treating 285.000 yards, and producing 1161 ounces of bullion.—(P.A.)
