Of the 12 pacers engaged, four. Golden Glow, Scottish Actress, Stylish Boy, and Worthy Prince, will start from the 12 yards mark, the rest being off scratch., A good beginner and a consistent pacer, Worthy Prince is due for a win, and he may prove the best of the back-markers. Golden Glow showed up at Ashburton, where he finished third in the Harvest Handicap, and his prospects cannot be ignored. Huntingdon Lass, Admiral Scott, Prince Lytton, and True Potts look the pick of the limit division. The latter’s eight placings this season include two wins, and if A. HUNTINGDON LASS POSSIBILITY AT NELSON Although she has been unplaced at her last two starts, Huntingdon Lass has shown fair form this season to record a win and six minor placings, and she is a possibility at the Nelson meeting to-day. Her first placing for the season was a second to Nancy Potts over a mile and a» 3uarter in the Broadway Handicap at re Manawatu Trotting Club’s meeting on April 6. She followed up with a third placing to Glen Murray and Admiral Fraser in the Palmerston Handicap of the same distance later in the day. Taken to the Taranaki Trotting Club’s meeting the following week, she finished third to Renown’s Pride and Task Force in the Urenui Handicap, and in the same position to Shepherd’s BYook and Gambler’s Fortune in the Omata Handicap. She was unplaced at her next start, and then won the Pohangina Handicap of one and a half miles at the Manawatu Trotting Club’s meeting on April 17. Owned and trained by Mr F. Vesey, Tinwald, who raced Lizzie Woods with some success a few seasons ago, Huntingdon Lass is a six-year-old mare by Jack Potts from Wander Lass, which was bred by Mr D. McCoaker, Ashburton, and is by Author Dillon from a Prince Imperial mare. 7_ - ~-- J otting 8

Dusky Sound was given a lot of work before the first day of the Ashburton meeting, and he lightened up Considerably, but when A. Butterfield could not work him because of the wet weather this week he quickly started to put on condition again. Butterfield jogged him at Addington on Thursday morning, and the Happy Voyage gelding should be in excellent order for the second day of the

meeting. Durato is a place proposition in the President’s Handicap at the Cambridge meeting. Tayside, which will race in the interests of his breeder, Mr W. McCullough, Spar Bush, is a four-year-old gelding by Quite Sure from Suncup, which is by Sungod from Sarita. After being 20 lengths in front at the end of a mile in the Picton Handicap at the Marlborough Trotting Club’s meeting True Potts carried on to win by 40 lengths from Shepherd’s Brook. The Jack Potts gelding is off the front of the Riwaka Handicap at Nelson to-day, and with a good start he would keep this field busy over the mile and a quarter journey. Ashburton Meeting Permission to hold the second day of its winter meeting on June 15 has been granted to- the Ashburton Trotting Club by the New Zealand Trotting Conference. There will be no alteration in the programme, which was postpdned because of wet weather. All Maidens C. S. Donald’s team for the Nelson Trotting Club’s meeting will include the maiden pacers Guidance, Tunisia, and Calworth. The first two named have not raced thia season, but Calworth, an aged gelding by Calumet Axworth from a Jack Potts mare, has started in eight races for two minor placings. Guidance, a Jack Fotta mare, has something of a private reputation, and if she moves off correctly in the Murchison Handicap she should take part in the finish. Tunisia is a six-year-old mare by Lusty Volo from Regalare, the dam of Ginger Jack and Monitrass, and she may develop into a useful performer with experience. Hal Derby, which is also trained by Donald, is an acceptor at the meeting, but he is a doubtful starter and may make his next appearance in the Trial Handicap at Ashburton next week. Due for a Win

Symetra has a string of minor placings to her credit this season,' and with ordinary luck she should win a race at the Cambridge meeting to-day. An aged mare by Calumet Axworth, she is from Symmetry, a good pacer which took a record of 3min 20 l-ssec. Symmetry was also bred by Dr. G. Haskins, and is by Great Audubon from Sympathy, which is by Dominion from Silverque. Extra Meeting

The Auckland Trotting Club has secured the permit which was abandoned by the Wellington Trotting Club, and it will now hold a meeting on June 22. In Form Jackalette struck winning form at the Auckland Trotting Club’s matinee meeting on May 25, and since then she has started in four races for a win, a second placing, and two third placings. In her present form she should race well In her races at the Cambridge Trotting Clubs meeting to-day.
