FOOD CRISIS IN CEYLON
WEEK’S SUPPLY OF RICE AND FLOUR (Rec. 7 p.m.) COLOMBO, June 6. Ceylon was facing an unprecedented food crisis, with stocks of rice and flour sufficient only for a week, said the Governor, Sir Henry MonckMason Moore. He added that he had telephoned the Colonial Office, Which had promised to try to help. The shortages were caused by the delayed arrival of foodships.
