TRANS-TASMAN FLIGHTS
INCREASED FREQUENCY POSSIBLE
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 6. The possibility of trans-Tasman flights being increased by Tasman Empire Airways from the present nine each way a fortnight to six a week by the end of July or the beginning of August, when new aircraft would be available, was mentioned by the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) in a letter received by the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. During the summer months it might be possible, he said, for nine flights to be made a week. Mr Parry said he had been concerned about the transport difficulties being experienced by businessmen who wished to travel between New Zealand and Australia. He had endeavoured to assist deserving cases by the issue of travel priorities. In view of the increased service that would soon be available he proposed not to | take the action suggested by the council to eliminate the delays businessmen were experiencing.
