Although the work is fairly well up to schedule, there has been unavoidable delay, caused by unforeseen difficulties with supplies of soil. It is considered that there is an element of risk that adverse weather during the next few weeks would possibly render the newly-formed portion of the course proper unsafe for riders and horses.”

Trainer Attacked by Colt The Riccarton trainer R. Wilson had tne misfortune to be savaged by the Derby winner Al-Sirat on Wednesday. He had gone into Al-Sirat’s box to tie him up when he was attacked, suffering a severe bruising of the left shoulder, only the heavy clothing he was wearing saving him from more serious injury. He was able to escape before very serious damage was done. Al-Sirat injured his trainer on a previous occasion.
