NELSON MEETING

TROTTING

TO-MORROW’S PROSPECTS

Worthy Prince's record of a win and nine minor placings in his last 11 starts makes him the form horse in the Nelson Trotting Club Handicap, the main event at the Nelson Trotting Club’s meetl^ g » T which will be held to-morrow. C. M. Laing has this soh of King Axworthy and Bonnie Queen in excellent condition, and he should extend most of this field, as he has already recorded 4min 31 2-ssec for two miles' on a grass track. On that occasion he finished third to Kapai and P eters on in the Hutt Handicap at Wellington on February 23, and the horses he beat included Rawene Grattan, Captain Gaillard, Task Force, and Renown’s Pride.

Most opposition to Worthy Prince should come from Golden Glow, which finished particularly well in third place to Lyndale and Cumnock in the Harvest Handicap at Ashburton last Saturday, and from Prince Lytton, which finished brilliantly, after being fifth into the straight, to win the Easter Handicap, of two miles, from Cue and Veritas at the GreymouthWestland Trotting Clubs’ meeting on April 22. Of the others. Huntingdon Lass, Tonnby, and True Potts have recent winning form to their credit; but they appear to be safely held by Worthy Prince, which will proba'bly be sent out a solid favourite.

Horses in form include:— 10.45 a.m.—Brightwater Handicap: Monitress, Billy McElwyn, Worthy Pointer. 11.30 a.m.—Wakefield Handicap—First Division: Travis Boy, Avowal. Second Division: Tu Rangi, Palm Beach. 12.15 p.m.—Motueka Handicap: Aspanall, Donald Dinnie, Lottie Jinks. 1 p.m.—Nelson Trotting Club Handicap: Worthy Prince, Golden Glow, Prince Lytton. 1.45 p.m.—Foxhill Handicap: Billy McElwyn, Lucky Bill, Monitress. 2.30 p.m:—Murchison Handicap—First Division: Tu Rangi, Air Spray.
