LOADING ORANGES INTO MAUI POMARE
COOK INLANDERS STOP WORK (p _A-> r. . WELLINGTON, June 6. The Cook Island workers who recontinue loading oranges on the Maui Pomare unless certain other workers joined the Progressive Association, have been urged by the executive of the New Zealand Federation of Labour to continue the working.of the vessel until the matter can be considered by the annual conference of the federation next week. The Maui Pomare carries a number of Cook Islanders to load and unload the-vessel at various ports of call. At one island, where a consignment of oranges was to be loaded, these men declined to load fruit unless certain other Workers joined the association. As a result of this dispute the Government representatives met representatives of interested organisations at Wellington on Tuesday and the dispute was referred to the federation executive, which got in touch with the Auckland Trades Council as that body is in touch with the Progressive Association.
It. was then decided to urge the Cook Island workers to continue until the matter is considered by the federation.
