INTER-ISLAND SERVICE
HINEMOA EXPECTED BY CHRISTMAS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 6. It is expected that the Union Steam Ship Company’s new vessel Hinemoa will enter the Wellington-Lyttelton service by Christmas. There is still a considerable amount of work to be done on the ship, which was launched at Barrow-on-Furness on May 29. Her departure date and route from Great Britain have not yet been fixed. By the time the Hinemoa commences on the run the conversion of the Rangatira to a sinele class liner on similar lines to the Hinemoa is expected to have been completed. The company considers that alterations to the Rangatira will improve the accommodation afforded, though it will result in some reduction in the number of passengers carried. Both the Hinemoa and the Rangatira. after her refit, will provide cabins for all passengers. Part of the work of conversion has already been done on the Rangatira. It will be advanced, though not completed, while she is being overhauled in Wellington. She is to be withdrawn from the service on arrival at Wellington on Sunday, June 16.
