EXAMINATION IN PRISON CAMP

CANTERBURY STUDENT SUCCESSFUL (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 16. In view of the wide interest taken by relatives of prisoners of war in arrangements made to conduct university examinations in prison camps in Germany, the Registrar of the University of New Zealand advises that a Canterbury College student, Major M. A. Bull, who is a prisoner of war in Oflag IX, had duly, received examination papers from New Zealand and had written his answers. These answers had now been judged by the New Zealand examiner, who held them to be clearly worthy of pass marks for a section of the Bachelor of Commerce degree. Major Bull has been advised of the result by air mail. This step concludes the first case in which a New Zealand examination has been fully conducted in respect of a prisoner of war.
