LANCASTER BOMBER DELAYED
MISHAP AT TAKE-OFF (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 16. The Lancaster bomber did not leave from Whenuapai this morning as was anticipated. Shortly after 9 o’clock when the aeroplane had been warmed up, it went down the runway and turned round, but in an attempt to take off in heavy rain it skidded. A check-up was ordered to ascertain whether the undercarriage and air frame had been strained. It is anticipated that the Lancaster will continue its journey tomorrow.
