DISQUALIFIED FOR TEN YEARS

INTOXICATED DRIVER SENT TO GAOL (P.A.) DUNEDIN, June 16. “I was satisfied in 1935 that this man was a menace on the road, and disqualified him from driving for 10 years; but the Minister of Justice saw fit later to remit the penalty,” said Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, when Gustave Victor Neilson pleaded guilty to his third offence of being intoxicated in charge of a motor-car. Senior-Sergeant Vaughan said the previous disqualification was lifted by Wellington on condition that Neilson renewed his prohibition order every 12 months, which he had failed to do. Counsel said accused suffered a severe head wound in the last war, and now had i silver plate in his head. The sentence was two months’ imprisonment, and disqualification for 10 years.
