HALSWELL COUNTY COUNCIL
MR E. PATERSON RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN Mr E, Paterson was re-elected chairman of the Halswell County Council for the seventeenth year In succession, at the council's annual meeting, which 1 was held recently. Crs. W. G. Macartney and J. R. Parish were appointed to the finance committee. Advice was received from the Main Highways Board that the allocation for maintenance would be the same as for last year. After discussing the finances of the county, the council decided that the general rate for the current year should be the same as last year, namely, Id in the £ The matter of straying stock on roads in the county was again discussed, and it was agreed to ask Constable Robinson to deal with any persons offending in this respect.
