FARM LABOUR POSITION
Ic appeared that there was sufficient labour available at Ashburton at the present time 'to carry essential term work, stated Mr H. M. Blazey (liaison officer to the National Service Denartment) to a representative of ■<The Press” at Ashburton yesterday. Mr Blazey added that he thought thathe farm labour problem would jl e assisted materially if farmers. c °'°P e 0 r * ated more fully. Instances badbeen noted where farmers had completed their main cultivation while otherg were in difficulties. Any farmer re auiring labour for cultivation for spring sowing should contact the memYipt of the Primary Production Committee in his district, and he would endeavour to arrange for the temporary transfer of labour from other farms in the district. It was urged. Mr Blazey stated, that farmers should Assist by y advising primary product^ committees when theyco uld labour for short periods. Generally, he thought that the labour position in the Ashburton County was fairly satis-
