Malan invited 1000 guests to a dance at Grosvenor House to-night, to celebrate the success of the Biggin Hill Royal Air Force station in shooting down ■ its thousandth German aeroplane. The guests, who are members of the Royal Air Force and their womenfolk, ranged from junior pilot officers to two air chief marshals—Sir Arthur Harris, chief of the Bomber Command, and Sir Trafford Leigh-Mallory. chief of (he Fighter Command.
