The Presbytery of Christchurch has sustained a call from the congregation of Westmere, Wanganui, to the Rev. Rawiri Dun, of Waikari, it was stated at a meeting of the Presbytery yesterday. Mr C. T. Aschman ,was yesterday re-elected chairman of the Waimakariri River Trust.

The general committee of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday placed on record its appreciation of the services of Mr W. Hayward, a former member of the Legislative Council. Mr Hayward, who died recently, was president in 1915. and had been a member of the committee for 35 years. Mr A. R. H. Gardiner was reelected chairman of the Mount Herbert County Council for the ensuing year at the annual meeting of the council, which was held recently. This will be, the seventh consecutive year in which Mr Gardiner has been chairman of the council. Advice has been received that Lieutenant J. A. McPherson, curator of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, has been appointed to superintend the most efficient means of vegetable production for New Zealand soldiers on duty in the Pacific Islands (states the latest issue of the ‘‘City Beautiful”).
