RATIONING OF EGGS

SCHEME FOR AUCKLAND AND WELLINGTON (P A.) WELLINGTON, June 9. The Minister of Supply (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) has announced the introduction of a preference rationing scheme for eggs in Auckland and Wellington, applying to invalids, expectant mothers, and children under five years of age, during the winter season, June, to August. * Mr Sullivan said the scheme!: was being inaugurated to ensure supplies to those whose need was greatest, and was being applied to those centres where the egg shortages were most acute. It would replace the present system of unofficial rationing through the Plunket Society and the Internal Marketing Division. The rationing controller would be responsible for the administration of the new system. Full details of the scheme would be released by the rationing controller (Mr J. E. Thomas).
