“Cool storage has become the master of the people, not the servant.” said Mrs Hedda Dyson, when giving examples of food dumping and wastage, backed by sworn evidence, to representatives of Wanganui women’s organisations, reports the “Wanganui Herald.” “The acceptance of a grower’s fruit now depends on whether it is at the right stage for cool storage and because of this, much tree-ripened fruit is condemned by the Internal Marketing Department,” she said.
