MILITARY SERVICE

Sir, —There seems to be a misunderstanding about the class of men who will have to do military service this year. Some say that all grade 1 men at present out on appeal will have to do one month’s training; others say that only grade 1 men in category A will have to do service. Could you settle this matter? I have four children, am grade 1, and am appealed for by my employer. Will I have to go to camp for one month?— Yours, etc., WONDERING. May 27, 1943. [Commenting on this letter, the Act-ing-Minister of Defence (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) said: “The question of the training (both camp and out-of-camp) of non-mobilised territorials is at present receiving consideration and it is expected that a decision will be made at an early date.”]
