BUILDING PERMITS ISSUED
FIGURES FOR MAY Building permits 'issued by the Christchurch City Council during last month totalled 113, representing work valued at £26,874. In May, 1942, only 29 permits were issued by the council for work costing £3698. Details of the number of permits and value of work authorised in the various wards of the city during May, with comparative figures for May. 1942, in parenthesis, are as follows; New Brighton, five, £l7O (three, £ 157); central, inner area, three, £llO (four, £229); central, outer area, 20, £4496 (four, £337); St. Albans, 41, £13,837 (four, £65); Sydenham, 11, £slOl (three, £170); Linwood, 13, £1960 (six, £250); Spreydon, 14, £945 (three, £1355); Woolston, six, £255 (two. £1135). Fees collected last month amounted to £lsl 10s, compared with £24 in May, 1942. Since March 31 last, 254 permits have been issued by the council, representing jobs valued at £64,161. In the same period of 1942, 59 permits, for work costing £Bl3l, were issued.
