NEW AIRCRAFT FOR PACIFIC
AUSTRALIAN PRODUCTION PLANNED (Rec. 6 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 6. Three new types of warplanes considered suitable for Pacific conditions are being considered for production in Australia. This was announced by Mr D. McVey, leader of the Commonwealth Air Mission, which has just returned. from Britain and the United States. While no indication can be given of the. particular types of machines in mind, both Britain and the United States, have promised Australia every assistance in the production of these aircraft. “From what I saw in America and Britain I am satisfied that if Austra-lia-is second to any Allied country in the intensity of her war effort she is second only to Britaih,” said,Mr McVey. “There is higher appreciation abroad of Australia’s war effort than is recognised here. , Aircraft experts have expressed amazement at the problems we have overcome in manut&cturing„.aircra|t hereg* 4 ... •
