HOSPITAL FOR SOLDIERS
Sir,—The superintendent of the Christchurch Public Hospital urged recently that a hospital be opened for returned sick and wounded service patients. Many persons here have frequently expressed a similar wish and have sent a request to this effect to the powers that be. Might I suggest that Amberley House, until recently used as a college and boarding school, would be an ideal house for such a hospital. It is within easy distance from Christchurch and in a most healthy part of the district. We have often been accused of putting off till to-morrow what should be done to-day. Our men have brought such glory to the name of New Zealand that surely anything that can help those who have suffered to regain health and strength under the best and pleasantest conditions is a very, very small return for what they have done for us.—Yours, etc., X.Y Z June 1, 1943.
