WAR LOAN PUBLICITY
gj r in reference to the large new war loan just announced may I suggest that matters would he greatly simplified and probably much better results obtained if the Government would dispense with all fanciful ideas in advertising (such as “your nest egg. Plan now for post-war living, and the like, which give quite a wrong impression and induce complacency), and tell the people plainly and frankly just exactly for what purpose their money is required. Quite obviously, war loans are not floated to provide people with “nest eggs,” but because the money is needed to carry on with the war. And the war must be carried on and it must be won; other--wise life for us would be simply impossible. Literally, we are fighting for our existence, and a full understanding of that fact should form the most powerful incentive to subscribe that any person could possibly have.— Yours, etc., GEORGE INGRAM. June 2, 1943.
