Mr E. Walker, a seaman, who Is a prisoner of war of the Japanese, is reported safe and well. Mr T. Martin. Seamen’s Union agent at Lyttelton, recently received a letter from Australia informing him that Mr Walker had been heard on the Japanese radio broadcast and that he had asked that a message be sent to Mr Martin and other friends in New Zealand. MITCHELL. 380 LYTTELTON EMERGENCY PRECAUTIONS SERVICES. The First of a series of Fortnightly Lectures will be held on Sunday, June 6, 1943. in the EXCELSIOR HALL, at 2 p.m. The speakers will be Sgt. Austin, ol Christchurch, and Mr C. Ellis. All personnel attached to Wardens, Law and Order, Communications. First-aid, Fire, E.F.S.. Oil Tanks, Engineers, Harbour. Transport, Works and Electrical Works Units are to be present. Attendance at all lectures Is COMPULSORY. Exemption will be granted only to those working on the Waterfront, for whom additional lectures will be arranged. These men must notify their Unit Controllers of their inability to attend.
