ARMED FORCES APPEALS

' DECISIONS OF NO. 1 BOARD During an appeal for a nigh-country musterer, a grade 1 man, in the No. 1 Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday, Mr W. F Tracy, representing the Crown, commented on "the lack of initiative” shown by the man's employer in his efforts to replace the man. DECISIONS OF NO. 2 BOARD .

"In this man I think we have one of tire best men in New Zealand,” said Dr. D. E. Hansen, in support of an appeal by the Christchurch Technical College for Ronald Athelstone Keir, grade 1, when appeals against service were heard yesterday by the No. 2 Armed Forces Apeal Board. Dr. Hansen said that unusual qualifications, as well as stamina and energy, were required for the work done by Keir. who held the position of instructor and supervisor of engineering classes. It would be extremely difficult to replace Keir. The appeal was adjourned sine die. In an appeal for Anthony Joseph Richard King, described as a foreman bodymaker, by Johnson and Smith, Ltd.,, it was stated that King was employed in heavy work building barges. Sections of the barges are made in Christchurch before being sent to Lyttelton, where they are assembled. The appeal was dismissed, reservist not to be called before August 31.
