THEFT FROM POWER BOARD
CLERK PLEADS GUILTY (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 31. Karl Donald Ifwersen. aged 50, a clerk, to-day admitted in the Magistrate’s Court before Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M., three offences of theft as a servant in the employ of the Auckland Power Board. The sums involved totalled £66 17s 3d, belonging to the board. ~ . A board official said m evidence that Ifwersen had been employed as a meter reader for nearly four years, and when he left the board’s service on April 1. was receiving a salary of £6 5s 8d a week. On April 1 witness spoke to accused about an account, and the following week Ifwersen handed' witness a complete list, setting out the defalcations which were the subject of the charges. Accused had failed to pay to the board sums he received from consumers. The offences occurred between February 23 and Anril 1. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
