IRRIGATION
inuiunj. iv*' Sir, —The assumption by some opponents of irrigation that the pressure exerted by the water in a race is dependent on the number of cusecs flowing along it is so inaccurate that it raises the question whether their other assumptions are equally so. Mr Riddell compares the present agitation against irrigation”ditches to that raised against the first stock races. I presume he refers primarily to the fact that illfounded prejudice may as easily be proved wrong as it was 60 years ago. Yours, etc., WATER. May 31, 1943.
