THE REV. WILLIAM HAIN The Rev. William Hain, of Kennington, died recently at the age of 99 years. He led an active life until within a few weeks of his death, and at the age of 92 he completely painted the Kennington Church, including the Interior and exterior of the spire. Mr Hain was born in Auchtermuchty, Fifeshire, Scotland, on March 22, 1844, and in 1880 he came to live in New Zealand. For 10 years Mr Hain was stationed as a home missionary at Orepuki. He held a charge at Waikaia for about 10 years and retired at the age of 75/ which is 10 years past the retiring age. After his retirement he lived mostly at Kennington. He travelled to England on three occasions and once to the United States and Canada. Mr Hain is survived by two sons and three daughters, all of whom are more than 70 years old. They are Mrs W.
