ABATTOIR FEES INCREASED
CITY COUNCIL'S DECISION
An increase in charges at the city abattoir, estimated to augment its annual income by £750, was approved last night by the Christchurch City Council. In recommending this increase the reserves and abattoir committee drew attention to a loss on the operation of the abattoir for the year ended March 31, 1938, of £3218. Last year, however, the cost of repairs was exceptionally heavy. , The fees approved by the council are- To users of abattoir, including inspection fees:—Cattle, 2s 3d; sheep and lambs, 7d; pigs, Is lid; calves, Is 9d. To meat export slaughter-houses, excluding inspection fees:—Cattle Is 9d; sheep and lambs, 6Jd; pigs, Is 6Jd,
