RAILWAY TRAMPING EXCURSION

The Railway Department’s next tramping excursion this season has been arranged in the Hawdon river district. It will* be held on Sunday, October 9, the train leaving Christchurch at 9 a.m. The route selected lies over country not yet traversed and provides excellent views of. the Waimakariri Gorge and the surrounding Southern Alps. No hard climbing is necessary, the route being over tussock country and the main West Coast road. Given a fine day, this should prove one of the outstanding trips of the season. Hot water, tea, milk, and sugar will be provided free for lunch and afternoon tea.
