Holmes Memorial —Repeal and Ferry Post. New Zealand Cup

No fewer than 28 horses have been nominated for the New Zealand Cup, to be run at Addington in November. The programme committee stipulated that the race should be open to horses that can do 4min 26sec or better. 'Harold Logan, now 16 years old, has apparently been resurrected. The nomination fee for the New Zealand Cup is £4, and it is hardly likely that the connexions of Harold Logan would spend this money if they did not have intentions of starting the old champion. He has not need for a long time. The nominations include the two Australian pacers. Lawn Derby and Logan Derby, and it is almost certain that both will race at Addington .in November. Both have been performing with conspicuous success recently, and apparently both are at the top of their form. Little that Morello has done entitles him to an entry in this class, and Glenrossie, Worthy Light, Hocks Ahead, and several 'others will only help to crowd an already unwieldly field. Gamble Returns

Gamble, who has been doing stgd duty during the season, has been accorded a nomination for the New Zealand Cup, and he will form ths second string to War Buoy from M. B. Edwards’s. stable. Gamble is possibly one of the best horses ever raced in New Zealand, but injuries and a ■ rather unfortunate temperament have prevented him from showing his true form. Whether he can be got right for the Cup is a question that only his trainer can answer. ,
