HEALTH STAMP CAMPAIGN
COMMITTEE FORMED AT MURCHISON
A meeting was held recently to form a committee to assist the health stamp campaign in the Murchison district. Mr W. J. Moran, postmaster, explained the object of the scheme, the establishment of several health camps in the Dominion for the benefit of: backward: children. In the past, he said; 'much benefit had been derived from these camps, and it was hoped this - year that the scheme might be extended to benefit a greater number of children.
The following, were elected a com-. mittee: —Chairman, Mr J. Downie; joint secretaries, the Rev. Q. Crammond and the Rev. Mr Spencer; committee, Mesdames Spencer, R.Lester, and W. Watson, Messrs W., J. Moran, J. H. McAuliffe, N. B. Bachelor. R, Lester, L. A..Mcßride,with power to add.
A suggestion was made that an effort should be made to organise a: queen carnival, to raise money for the campaign, and it was decided that all sports bodies, the Women’s Institute, and the Women’s. Division of the Farmers’ Union should be asked lor co-operation. It was also decided that each of these organisations should be asked to appoint a representative to meet the committee at a further meeting on October 18. It was resolved that the secretary write to the business people of Murchison. advising them that the health stamp campaign would open to-day, and suggesting that they would materially, help the scheme if they would use health stamps for their correspondence for from two to four weeks.
