OBITUARY
MR HENRY J. L. WILLIAMS The death occurred recently at his residence. 114 Somerfleld street, Spreydon, of Mr Henry J. L. Williams, after a very short illness. Mr Williams was well known in Christchurch, particularly among poultry farmers, having taken a prominent part in the formation and control of poultry organisations. He was president of the New Zealand Poultry Association for many years, and at the time of his death was a director of the Canterbury Poultry Farmers' Co-operative Society. Mr Williams had also been a member and later chairman of the Somerfleld School Committee, Chief Ruler of the Rechabite Lodge, president of the Beckenham Bowling Club, and a member of the Cashmere Freemason Society. His chief interest, however, was in poultry farming. With great success he specialised in the production of high-class White Leghorns, and won many prizes with his birds. He was also the inventor and builder of the well-known Kapai incubator. The funeral, which took place in the Sydenham Cemetery, was very largely attended. The death has occurred of Mr Mark Morton, "father" of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, and member for Wollondilly, at the age of 73.
