NEW SOUTH WALES BUDGET

1 ♦ ' , TAXATION REDUCTIONS ANNOUNCED (united p«>m association—comidHT.) (Received September 29, 7.10 pm.) SYDNEY, September 28. The Premier of New South Wales (Mr B. S. B. Stevens) delivered his seventh Budget last night. He announced taxation reductions and concessions totalling £200,000 a year. Wage-earners with dependants, whose remuneration do not exceed £4 4s weekly, will be exempted from wages tax from 'next JanuaryCheap rail fares will be provided for workmen living beyond the 11mile outer-suburban limit. Harbour bridge tolls for rail, tram, and bus passengers will be reduced. Rail freights on some rural commodities will be lowered. Mr Stevens expects to finish the' year with a surplus of £BOOO. He estimates that the income for the current year will be £55,325,000, compared with £ 54,346,000 last year, and expenditure £ 55,317,000 compared with £54,292,000.
