CULVERDEN RIFLE CLUBS
DANCE AND PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES The efforts of the Culverden Ladies' and Men's Miniature Rifle Clubs executive were well rewarded when there was a large attendance of supporters and visitors from Waiau, Rotherham, and Hanmer Springs at their annual dance and presentation of trophies held in the Culverden HalL * , * «, Mr V. Rivers congratulated the club on its successful year, during which it had won many trophies in inter-club and district meetings, and also the individual members on their success in winning the aggregates m the North Canterbury miniature rifir competition. Mrs M. Bethell presented the prizes as follows:—Ladies' aggregate, Mrs R. Crewes; men's senior cup, H. Hammond; men's junior aggregate cup, Eoel Hoss. Music for the dancing was played by the Stewart Dance Band, and extras by Miss Eva Black. Mr R. D, Crewes was master of ceremonies. Among those present were Mr and Mrs M. Bethell, Mr and Mrs R. D. Crewes, Mr and Mrs D. W. Davison, Mr and Mrs P. Ramsay, Mr and Mrs E Burrows, Mr'and Mrs G. H. Loffhagen, Mr and Mrs D. Sterritt, Mr and Mrs M. Fitzgibbon, Mr and Mrs F Graham, Mesdames R. Swingler, Taylor, Sutherland, Hempenstall, Misses Ngaire Mockett, Margaret Hamrton, V. Davison, Molly Thompson, L. Cooper, M. and B. Hodgins. One hundred pounds in prizes is being offered by the British National Safety First Association for amateurs' silent films showing how exemplary or foolish conduct can prevent or cause accidents.
